The Bible tells us that after the Ark has landed in Ararat “And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there.” Gen 11: 2 NKJV. After the dispersion of the Tower of Babel, which was associated with cataclysmic natural disasters, they must have migrated in all directions and lived in caves. Iran would be a suitable location for its proximity to the land of Shinar (currently) Iraq.
