The African Rift Valley extends to the North through the Red Sea, and River Jourdan, to connect with the South Anatolian Plate Fault. There are some variations in the interpretation of its course after it hits the African Horn. What is shown above in the picture is one possibility, another possibility is that it goes through the African Horn and the eastern part of the continent (map to the left).
I propose that this valley was part of the running course of the second river that sprung from Eden and went around all the land of Cush. “The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which goes around the whole land of Cush.” Gen 2: 13 NKJV. Finding alluvial deposits between African mainland and the island of Madagascar during the Isalo Group (Upper Precambrian to Lower Paleozoic) may validate this idea.
